Happy Holiday Stars [A Free Quilt Pattern] (1)

Word on the street is that Starberry fabrics have started shipping to quilt shops. =) Yay! It’s always so much fun when the fabrics arrive in quilt shops. Previously, I shared about the free pattern, Happy Holiday Stars, that was being released when this collection started shipping. Today is the day you can download this pattern. =)

Happy Holiday Stars is a throw sized quilt finishing at 45″ square. If you want to see this quilt shared in a video, you can watch the Starberry trunk show video.

Happy Holiday Stars is a great way to use the check fabric in Starberry.

If you are concerned about working with the check fabric, the pattern shows you how to fussy cut the star centers.

The quilting design, used by David, on this quilt is called Diagonal Plaid. I always think this one works so well for those “cabin-y” type cozy quilts.

Happy Holiday Stars [A Free Quilt Pattern] (6)

For the backing I chose Moda’s Fireside fabric in black which is a minky type fabric. This makes this quilt so cozy!

I wanted to touch just a little bit on the washing for those of us non-prewashers. The Starberry fabric line includes a lot of strong colors with all of those reds and blacks. Also using a dark fabric on the back of a quilt when the front of a quilt includes a white background can be a concern. I have washed this quilt since making it and didn’t run into any problems with fabric bleeding. I used two Shout color catchers and machine washed on cold. I will always recommend prewashing those stronger/darker colors but if you are like me (and live on the edge with no prewashing most of the time), I thought this information might be helpful.

    So pretty!
Ok – I have to cave on my “no fabric purchases for awhile” contract I made with myself because Starberry broke me 🤣❤️ And the sheep pattern is now a must to go along with the new Starberry fabric. Love your style and designs.

It’s possible!…check with your favorite shop to see if they would kit one for you. Most shops are very happy to kit a quilt pattern if they are carrying the fabrics.
