This herb whipped ricotta recipe is a creamy and flavorful spread that is perfect for any time of day. What ingredients do you need for this whipped ricotta recipe?

Ricotta cheese: This creamy cheese is the base of the recipe, adding a smooth and mild flavor to the whipped ricotta.

Basil: Fresh basil adds a sweet and nice peppery flavor. It also adds a beautiful green color and essense to the ricotta.

Parsley: Parsley adds a bright and fresh flavor. It has a mild, slightly bitter taste that complements the creaminess of the cheese.

Chives: Chives have a mild onion flavor that is subtle but adds depth to the whipped ricotta. I love adding chives in here because it really adds so much flavor!

Dill: Dill adds a fresh, slightly tangy flavor to this recipe. It also has a slightly sweet flavor that balances out the tanginess of the lemon juice.

Lemon Juice and zest: Lemon juice and zest add a bright, tangy flavor to this recipe. The acidity of the lemon juice also helps to balance out the creaminess of the cheese and the richness of the olive oil. It really adds lovely brightness!

Whip your ricotta

Start by preparing your ingredients. Rinse and roughly chop your fresh herbs.

In a food processor, or stand mixer with the whisk attachment, or hand-mixer, combine the ricotta cheese, fresh herbs (dill, basil, chives, and parsley), lemon juice, lemon zest, olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic cloves. Pulse until the mixture is creamy and whipped.

Transfer to the fridge

Set the whipped ricotta aside until ready to serve. For best results, transfer it to the fridge to firm up and allow the flavors to combine for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare your bread

While the whipped ricotta is chilling, prepare your bread or baguette. Toast it until it is crispy and golden brown.

Serve!

Once the bread is ready, spread a generous amount of whipped ricotta on each slice, or serve a separate bowl of the ricotta sprinkled with a little bit of pepper and fresh herbs of choice, and the crostini around a platter to serve as you go.
