“I'm still in shock,” Tayvia Woodfork, the mother of Tamaar Kylon Corral Woodfork, said. Woodfork had experienced a rare case of cryptic pregnancy, which describes a pregnancy that remains unknown to the (unexpecting) mother for a significant portion of the term, according to the American Pregnancy Association.
What is a cryptic pregnancy? Term used when a woman has no idea that she is pregnant - some women report not knowing until they are in labour. About one in 2,500 births is a "cryptic birth"
Fetal movement: Most people don't feel the fetus move until about halfway through pregnancy. If you have an anterior placenta, the placenta's in the front of your belly. This can make it harder to feel kicks. In the case of a cryptic pregnancy, this could be why you don't realize you're pregnant.
Cryptic pregnancy is rare. Studies estimate that 1 in 400 or 500 women are 20 weeks (about 5 months) into pregnancy before realizing it. One in 2,500 women go all the way to delivery before realizing they're having a baby. That's about three times more common than the chance of having triplets.
