The Lying Map Quest is one of the many quest types you can experience during the Legend of the Veil voyage. The Lying Map Quest is a puzzle-focused quest that will test your knowledge of the rock paintings found around the islands in the Sea of Thieves. One island a Lying Map Quest can send you to is Plunder Valley.
Plunder Valley Lying Map Quest
If your Lying Map Quest is for Plunder Valley, your Quest Book will have a two-page map depicting a top-down view of Plunder Valley covered in Ancient symbols. The locations of the symbols on the map should match the locations of actual rocking paintings on the island. However, one of the symbols is a lie and not really on the island.
To complete the quest, you must search Plunder Valley for the symbols on your map. As you explore, you will eventually find a rock painting that doesn’t match its symbol.
When you do, start digging in front of the rock painting. If you have found the right spot, you will dig up an Ancient Chest with the Veil Stone inside and complete the quest.
Below you will find images showing what rock painting should be at each symbol’s location.
Trumpeters to the East
This rock painting is on the East beach of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than Trumpeters, dig in front of this rock painting.
Sunstone
This rock painting is on the East beach of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a sun, dig in front of this rock painting.
Scarab
This rock painting is on the North East beach of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a beetle, dig in front of this rock painting.
Butterfly
This rock painting is in the canyon on the South side of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a butterfly, dig in front of this rock painting.
Crawling in the earth
This rock painting is in the canyon on the South side of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a beetle, dig in front of this rock painting.
Red Hooks
This rock painting is in the canyon on the South side of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a red hooks, dig in front of this rock painting.
Ancient Bear and Bird
This rock painting is on the East side of the large rock on top of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a bear and bird, dig in front of this rock painting.
Eagle Hunter
This rock painting is on the East side of the large rock on top of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than an eagle, dig in front of this rock painting.
Mark of the Blood Red Hand
This rock painting is high up on the North side of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a red hand, dig in front of this rock painting.
Ancient Hunter
This rock painting is near the highest point at the center of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than an ancient hunter, dig in front of this rock painting.
Painted Fire
This rock painting is in the canyon on the South side of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than fire, dig in front of this rock painting.
Three Vertical Triangles
This rock painting is in the canyon on the South side of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than three vertical triangles, dig in front of this rock painting.
In this variation of the Plunder Valley Lying Map Quest, the location of the three vertical triangles was the dig site since the map had an Ancient Hunter symbol.
Bat
This rock painting is in the cave on the West side of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a bat, dig in front of this rock painting.
Painted Feathers
This rock painting is on the North West side of the large rock on top of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than four feathers, dig in front of this rock painting.
Triangle Above Three Lines
This rock painting is on the North West beach of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a triangle above three lines, dig in front of this rock painting.
Trumpeters to the North
This rock painting is on the North West beach of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than trumpeters, dig in front of this rock painting.
Trumpeters to the West
This rock painting is on the West side of the island near the waterfall. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than trumpeters, dig in front of this rock painting.
