DC Comics Solicitations August 2024

Previously on DC Comics Solicitations….Amanda Waller found a way to finally take over the world by constructing an army of replicant robots designed to steal our heroes’ powers and abilities and take their places! As we pass July and get into August, the threat still remains. What will happen next?

Everyone’s cornered at the Fortress of Solitude in ABSOLUTE POWER #2, struggling to think up a plan while Waller’s forces close in. That issue appears August 7, followed by TASK FORCE VII #4 on August 14, where we find out how Batman and his allies are outwitting the Bat-Bot Failsafe. The only major DC hero to remain powered up is The Flash, solely because he’s the best at running away. Find out if he can keep that pace up in TASK FORCE VII Issue 5, on sale August 28.

Several mainline DC comics are running Absolute Power tie-in stories. BATMAN #151 sees the Dark Knight chasing a lead — is a blinking device on a remote island the key to taking down Waller’s army? SUPERMAN #17 is a continuation of SUPERMAN #16 where Supes seeks Zatanna’s help in regaining his powers. WONDER WOMAN #12 and GREEN LANTERN #14 also have stories that are event-related.

But plenty more’s going on. DC VS. VAMPIRES is back! Continuing where it left off, with some DC heroes already turned into fanged bloodsuckers and the remaining good guys fighting them as best they can. The first of six issues goes on sale August 14.

Who’s back in her own book? It’s Jenny Sparks! The blonde from Britain with the electric touch has returned to stop a rogue Captain Atom from destroying the planet. The first of six issues goes on sale August 21.

And it’s the 30th anniversary of ZERO HOUR, so writers Dan Jurgens and Ron Marz have returned to the Lanterns with a brand-new story. Turns out Parallax isn’t as finished as Kyle Rainer thought. Find out how he deals with it in this deluxe 80 page issue on sale August 28.
