The steps we need to take are shown in the photos below. They are all super easy!

  1. line a baking tray with grease proof paper, preheat oven and add nuts to tray (photo 1)
  2. oven bake the almonds for 10 mins (photo 2)
  3. remove from oven and let cool slightly(photo 3)
  4. transfer cooled almonds into food processor with shredder blade(photo 4)

Next we need to:

  • blitz to get the party started (shown in photo 5)
  • keep on blitzing (shown in photo 6)

  • be patient as it won't happen immediately (shown in photo 8)

One of the most enjoyable things about making nut butter at homeis that you know exactly what goes into the recipe. It is pretty simple, but there is no second guessing or reading the labels!

  • blitz, scrape down the sides to push the nuts back in (shown in photo 9)
  • repeat, over and over (shown in photo 10)
  • the ground nuts will get thicker and thicker (photo 11)
  • then all of a sudden it will transform into smooth nut butter (photo 12)

Once the nuts have transformed into the nut butter, you can remove the lid and blade of the food processor.

Scrape any excess butter off the blade of the food processor.

Transfer to a jar (that has a lid) so you can store the butter in the fridge until needed.

The nuts transform into this smooth, creamy and thick nut butter that is simply to die for!

It is a little bit repetitive to scrap, blitz, scrape, blitz, but the results are oh SO worth it!

The texture of the butter is smooth and thick. If storing in the fridge, leave out on the bench for a couple of minutes to bring to room temperature (so it is easier to spread).

Notes

  • Note 1 More nuts is fine! Just make sure to have 1 flat layer when cooking (or use 2 baking trays)
  • Note 2 The nuts will cook quickly, especially as the oven is preheated. Hang about and keep an eye on them as you don't want them to burn (as this can happen SO fast).
  • Note 3 The almonds can still be 'warm' when you transfer them into the food processor, but not 'hot'. Hot ingredients do bad things to our food processor and we want to avoid that!
  • Note 4 This is the main standard blade that comes with all food processors (inserted one), not the one that sits flat on top. Check out the process shots if unsure.
  • Note 5 It will be LOUD at 1st as the nuts are whole and bang around a bit.
  • Note 6 Blitz and scrape, blitz and scrape, it will take longer than you think!
